Minister of Culture Nebojsa Bradic handed over to Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertugrul Gunay the archaeological and numismatic material of Turkish origin, which was seized at the Batrovci border crossing in December 2004.
After the handover in the Atrium of the National Museum in Belgrade, Bradic expressed gratitude to the representatives of the Ministries of the Interior and Foreign Affairs and the National Museum.
He recalled that 1,864 archaeological and numismatic items were temporarily kept in the National Museum in Belgrade.
The Minister also said that two years ago he signed with Gunay the programme on cultural cooperation between the two countries, which during this period included the premiere of "Dervish and the Death" in Turkey or Turkish theatre performances at cultural events in Serbia.
Gunay said that Turkey strongly opposes the illegal trade in items of cultural heritage and expressed gratitude to Serbia for having returned these valuable items.
