Serbia needs highly professional police

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said today in Sremska Kamenica that Serbia should have a responsible, highly professional, well trained and educated police so that it could meet the challenges of modern society more effectively.
Addressing the participants of the fourth class of the Centre for Basic Police Training, who were officially promoted to police trainees, Dacic underlined that only with constant improvement and acquisition of new knowledge will they be ready to successfully confront organised crime and other forms of crime.
Creating a well-equipped police and their accompanying services is among the priorities in the coming months, he said, adding that the facilities of the centre have been renovated lately and modern equipment purchased with funds from the budgets as well as from donations from the country and abroad.
Dacic presented the best students of the centre with awards.
Of the total of 154 students who completed the one-year training under new programme the most successful was Tanja Zivkovic from Sabac, the second was Dejan Stamenkovic from Leskovac and the third was Slavica Milic from Savac near Paracin.
The ceremony was attended by Speaker of Vojvodina parliament Sandor Egeresi and representatives of the diplomatic corps in Serbia.
