Dacic opens "Serbian First World War Flags" exhibition

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic opened a "Serbian First World War Flags" exhibition at the National Museum in Nis today, as part of the celebration of Serbian Statehood Day.

Dacic extended greetings over the national holiday to all citizens, recalling that the celebration of Statehood Day was established because of important events crucial to Serbia’s independence, such as the First Serbian Uprising of Duke Karadjordje against the Ottoman Empire in 1804, and the adoption of the first Serbian Constitution in 1835.

I would like to stress the Serbian government’s commitment to the full preservation of the best traditions of our people and the state in the remits of culture, education, arts and science, Dacic stated.

He said that the Serbian government decided to present state symbols, decorations, flags and constitutions to the public.

These exhibitions will be open in Nis, Novi Sad, Belgrade, Kragujevac and Valjevo, representing a rare opportunity to see the insignia symbolising our state, said the First Deputy Prime Minister.

Mayor of Nis Milos Simonovic expressed his gratitude to the Serbian government because it has chosen Nis for a place where the Statehood Day will be marked.

Simonovic said that Nis cultural institutions are fully prepared to mark this holiday.
