Construction of three new factories in Nis

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic signed today with French company Sagem the contract on allocation of non-repayable funds for encouraging investments for construction of a factory of electronic meters, and the memorandum with company Yura on construction of its third factory in Serbia.
After signing the contract with Sagem in the industrial zone Donje Medjurovo in Nis, Dinkic said that the value of this investment is €3.268 million and that it will create 203 jobs.
He explained that in addition to electronic meters, Sagem will also make television decoders and other electronic devices.
Dinkic announced the beginning of construction of three new factories in Nis – by Sagem, South Korean Yura and Italian Daytec, which will employ 900 new workers and almost the entire of their output will be exported.
The construction of Yura’s new factory will start in April and it will manufacture Yura Eltec cables. It will employ 300 workers and the total value of the investment is €8 million.
A cornerstone for construction of Daytec’s factory for production of car parts was laid today on the location of future duty free zone in Donje Medjurovo. The factory should employ 403 new workers and the value of the investment is approximately €13.3 million.
Dinkic said that at this moment 17 new investments of foreign companies are being carried out in the territory of Nis, of the total value of €100 million which will create jobs for 6,000.
In addition to Kragujevac, which will be the centre of car industry in Serbia, Nis is becoming the second most important in the country because it has attracted the biggest foreign investments so far, Dinkic underlined.
The arrival of a large number of investors in Nis in less than a year is the result of two times larger incentives provided by the Serbian government, the Deputy Prime Minister concluded.
He explained that in addition to electronic meters, Sagem will also make television decoders and other electronic devices.
