Speaking at a press conference held after the government session, Djelic said that the Questionnaire is very comprehensive and covers all elements that will be included in Serbia’s negotiations with the EU.
The process of answering was transparent and it included a great number of experts, politicians, NGOs and trade union representatives.
The replies are truthful, although in some segments they show that Serbia is far from European standards, Djelic underlined, specifying that the Questionnaire is quite comprehensive as it covers all elements of Serbia’s future talks on EU accession.
He said that the replies were drafted within a record deadline of 45 days, adding that one fifth is related to legal freedoms and security and that 70 translators were engaged in its translation.
Around 37 volumes and ten kilograms of material are being printed as we speak, which will be presented to EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule on 31 January, he added.
The replies will be published on the Serbian government’s website once the Serbian delegation, led by Prime Minister Cvetkovic, delivers them to Fule.
He reiterated that it is Serbia’s strategic goal to acquire EU candidate status by the end of the year.
