Contract on constructing new Gorenje factory in Zajecar signed

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic and home appliances manufacturer Gorenje signed a contract on the construction of a new factory in Zajecar, which will employ 300 workers.
Following the signing, Dinkic stressed that the initial investment is worth around €2.9 million, noting that this is the first large investment in eastern Serbia.
He voiced his belief that the Slovene company will be a herald of new investments, adding that Gorenje has proved to be one of the best investors in Serbia.
Gorenje has so far invested €50 million in Serbia, Dinkic said, adding that the company has been present in the Serbian market for decades and that Serbian citizens have confidence in its products.
The reconstruction of the Porcelan factory, in which the new Gorenje factory will be situated, is due to begin in March, the factory will be opened in summer and the first 100 workers will be employed by the end of the year, Dinkic explained.
Through the National Employment Service, the state will be engaged in staff training, as well as in the construction of the missing infrastructure.
Bearing in mind the severe economic and social situation in this part of Serbia, the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development has endorsed this investment with €10,000 per each new employee, which adds up to around €3 million, Dinkic explained.
Under the agreement, Gorenje will establish planned business activities in Zajecar within one year and will provide employment for all 300 workers within three years.
Gorenje will take over the Porcelan factory in bankruptcy. The industrial complex includes two halls with a total area of 18,000 square metres where the Slovene company intends to set up a production line for washing machines and dryers.
The Slovene company will also produce wash basins in Zajecar. Gorenje is already present in Serbia in Valjevo and in Stara Pazova.
Apart from Dinkic, the agreement was signed by Gorenje CEO Franjo Bobinac and Mayor of Zajecar Bosko Nicic.
