New Gorenje factory in Zajecar to create jobs for 300 workers

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic announced that the Gorenje Company officially stated today that they will construct another factory in Zajecar for manufacturing washing and drying machines.

Dinkic told the Tanjug news agency that this will be the third factory built by this Slovene company in Serbia, stressing that the investment will secure jobs for at least 300 people, as well as help to prevent young people from leaving eastern Serbia.
He noted that lengthy talks between Gorenje and the Ministry of Economy have led to concrete results, adding that an agreement should be signed with Gorenje this week regarding their investment in Zajecar.
Dinkic voiced his belief that the arrival of Gorenje will transform eastern Serbia, just as Fiat did in Sumadija, adding that the Ministry will fully endorse the realisation of such an investment. There have been no serious investment in Zajecar so far and this town, along with several others, has been declared of special importance for industrial development in Serbia, Dinkic noted.
This is good news, as 90% of the output in Zajecar will be export-oriented, he stressed, recalling that Gorenje has a boiler factory in Stara Pazova and a refrigerator and freezer factory in Valjevo. There is a possibility of reaching an agreement with this company to increase the number of employees in their Valjevo factory and to double the capacity of the boiler factory in Stara Pazova, Dinkic claimed.
The Stara Pazova factory is completed and it launched trial production. It will be soon officially opened, Dinkic said, adding that Gorenje will procure Zajecar’s bankrupt Porcelan factory, as its production halls are currently emptied.
The planned initial investment is estimated at €2.9 million, Dinkic stressed.
The industrial complex in Zajecar includes two halls spanning 18,000 square metres in all, situated on 14 hectares of land.
