Congo supports sovereignty, territorial integrity of Serbia

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic expressed his gratitude to Congo today on its support to Serbia in the preservation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

After the meeting with Congolese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Security Adolphe Lumanu Mulenda Bwenda N'sefu, Dacic said that this country has a friendly stance towards Serbia. He noted that it gives a constrictive contribution to Serbia’s policy of preservation of territorial integrity and supports it regarding the issue of Kosovo-Metohija. The two officials agreed to improve cooperation between the two countries in the field of internal affairs and security, and Dacic announced the signing of an agreement on police and security cooperation by the end of this year.

Dacic added that they also discussed cooperation in internal affairs, which implies police training and equipment, as Congo is facing problems regarding its territorial integrity and the maintenance of public law and order. The Deputy Prime Minister said that Serbia has good, friendly relations with Congo, but noted that their economic cooperation is weak and should be improved.

N'sefu voiced his hope that the relations between the two countries will be raised to a higher level to include other remits as well. He said that Congo is faced with multiple challenges and therefore needs the support of partners, such as Serbia. During the meeting, Dacic and N'sefu signed a joint declaration, which implies cooperation in training and equipping police forces of the two countries.
