Combating piracy requires cooperation of state, authors

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said today that the successful fight against piracy requires cooperation of state bodies with everyone involved in the protection of intellectual property, including the authors of works of art.

At a panel organised by the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the production company "Salajka" and the film crew of film "Early Frost" at the Centre for Basic Police Training in Sremska Kamenica, Dacic pointed out to the fact that the level of piracy in Serbia is about 68%, which is the Balkan average. However, it is significantly higher than the 40% average in the EU.
He expressed satisfaction that the film “Early Frost" showed only in theatres and was seen by many spectators while there were no counterfeit copies.
Dacic commended the people who have worked on this film as well as members of the Ministry of Interior’s department for combating crime in the area of intellectual property.
Dacic confirmed that the action of combating child pornography "Armageddon" will be continued in Serbia and abroad, with the reminder that this is a campaign of international scale involving FBI and British police.
