Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic stated today that the Ministry of Finance sent an official letter to the European Commission Delegation in Belgrade asking the EU to take an official stance towards amendments to the Law on excise tax.
Djelic told the Tanjug news agency that if the EU believes that there are elements of violation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA), it is the Serbian government’s stance tohat these elements must be ammended.
If it turns out that the SAA has been violated, changes must be implemented and agreement reached before the upcoming meeting of the Committee for the Implementation of the SAA, to be held from 22 to 24 March in Brussels, the Deputy Prime Minister said.
In the year when Serbia expects to be granted EU candidate status and the date for EU accession talks is to be determined, the last thing we need is a violation of the SAA through any activity on behalf of Serbia, he concluded.
