Constant improvement of political relations between Serbia, the US

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Political-Military Affairs Thomas Countryman expressed their satisfaction during today's meeting over constant improvement of political relations between the two countries.

Countryman said on this occasion the US takes very seriously the report of Special Rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Dick Marty on trafficking in human organs in Kosovo-Metohija, but believes that this is a matter of law enforcement and the rule of law.
He underlined that EULEX is responsible for the investigation and that this is a problem which they need to explore in addition to problems such as trafficking in persons, arms and drugs.
The US Deputy Assistant Secretary said that he believes that the witness protection is the greatest impediment in this investigation of EULEX.
Dacic agreed that this is not a political issue, but rather an issue of the rule of law.
He underlined that the official position of the Serbian government is that the question of upcoming negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina should be separated from Dick Marty’s report.
The First Deputy Prime Minister told Countryman that he will assist the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, where he is scheduled to meet with officials of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
