Fund for Young Talents presents Dositej Plaque to new student generation

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic and Minister of Youth and Sport Snezana Samardzic-Markovic attended an award ceremony where the Fund for Young Talents presented the Dositej Plaque to a new generation of students who have been granted the Dositej stipend for studying abroad.

At the ceremony in the Palace of Serbia, Dinkic voiced his hope that the students who received the stipends will return to Serbia when they have completed their studies and apply the knowledge they acquired abroad in their homeland.
He noted that over the past two years more than RSD 1 billion has been set aside from the Fund for Young Talents for financing students studying abroad.
Serbia has good universities, but it is always important to share knowledge with foreign schools, as the Serbian society can benefit from that, he added.
He recalled that Dositej Obradovic also studied abroad and then returned to Serbia to become a major reformist.
Samardzic-Markovic noted that this year the Fund for Young Talents has helped 323 students to attend their final year of studies at international universities.
The goal is to stimulate these students to return to Serbia when they finish their studies, she said, recalling that over the last two years, the Fund has financed more than 4,000 students.
During the 2010/2011 academic year, the Fund will give grants to 323 final year undergraduate students and students of the second and third degree at EU universities, at the European Free Trade Association and at leading world universities.
