Serbian budget receives €50m of EU non-repayable aid

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic stated that the EU has transferred a tranche of €50 million in non-repayable aid to the Serbian budget today.
Djelic, who is on a two-day visit to Belgium, told the Tanjug news agency that with this tranche, the assistance which Serbia received this year from EU pre-accession funds has reached €100 million.
The €50 million will help us to wrap up this demanding budget year, he said, adding that Serbia is the only Western Balkans country to which Brussels granted non-repayable budget support. The Ministry of Finance will decide how the funds will be used, he added.
Djelic announced that Serbia can count on the EU’s macro financial assistance in 2011 to the amount of €100 million, however, not in the form of non-repayable aid, but more likely as favourable loans.
