State Secretary of the Ministry of Education Radivoje Mitrovic said that apart from material value, this donation has a great moral value as the people know they can count on help from humane people.
Mitrovic said that the earthquake struck more than 98% educational institutions noting that smaller damages have been repaired, but that classes have not resumed fully.
Tsunozaki voiced his pleasure at the fact that his country is able to assist a primary school that has suffered such damage and in that way help to normalise the lives of people in Kraljevo.
The Japanese government’s economic assistance to Serbia so far exceeds €200 million, he added.
Kraljevo Deputy Mayor Vukman Rakocevic said that 20 Kraljevo schools were damaged in the earthquake, stressing that the main problem is that pupils from the Kraljevo grammar school and the secondary school of economics have been relocated to other facilities.
We are investing huge efforts to make these schools safe again, stressing that the Japanese donation will no doubt be of great assistance.
