Continuation of transfer of state institutions to cities in Serbia

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic opened today in Nis the headquarters of the Development Fund, which marked the continuation of the process of decentralisation of authority in Serbia.
Dinkic explained that in this way a big step has been made for development of one of the least developed regions in the country – south Serbia, where in some towns the unemployment is as much as 20 times higher than in central Belgrade municipalities.
As of now, businessmen and entrepreneurs from southern Serbia will be able to apply directly in Nis for more favourable loans and underlined that the Ministry of Economy is the first of all state institutions to have started the process of deconcentration of institutions with the aim of making state institutions closer to citizens and companies.
The Serbian government will continue with this process in order to create equal opportunities for all citizens, Dinkic said and announced that the Agency for export insurance and financing will be moved to Uzice and the National Employment Service to Kragujevac.
He announced competition for 20 to 30 new workers who will be employed in the headquarters of the Development Fund in Nis and noted that the Fund will open offices in Novi Pazar, Zajecar, Zrenjanin, Uzice and Kraljevo next year.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the Development Fund this year approved a total of RSD 22 billion in loans and will continue granting soft loans next year as well, primarily to small and medium businesses and enterprises from underdeveloped regions.
Also present at the opening ceremony in Nis were Minister of Trade and Services Slobodan Milosavljevic and Minister for National Investment Plan Verica Kalanovic, Director of the Fund Sladjana Backovic and Nis Mayor Milos Simonovic.
