Following the signing, Djuric said that the goal of the project is to help Serbia improve its regulations and adjust them to EU standards.
He said that a portion of the donation, specifically €1.5 million, will be used for the construction of the Duboko regional landfill, which will be used by nine municipalities around Uzice and approximately 400,000 citizens.
He said that help will be provided to the Agency for chemicals, as well as for projects on infrastructure development and employment of 100 people at the local level and 20 at the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning.
Asp stressed that Sweden supports Serbia in its EU accession process through concrete assistance.
He noted that assistance in the environmental sphere is of importance for the citizens, but also for negotiations that Serbia will lead in the EU accession process.
The Ambassador said that Serbia has good administrative capacity to adapt to EU regulations.
The Swedish government assists Serbia with more than €12 million per year, he concluded.
