Companies CMEK and TE-KO Kostolac signed today a contract on realisation of the first phase of project of the thermo electrical power plant Kostolac B whose total value is $344 million.

Director General of the Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) Dragomir Markovic, a representative of Chinese CMEK and Director of TE-KO Kostolac Dragan Jovanovic signed the contract.
Present at the signing were also Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Skundric and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Wei Jinghua.
The Minister said that the contract envisages revitalisation of the units 1 and 2 of Kostolac B and the construction of a desulphurisation system for these units.
The Minister recalled that the contract is being signed within the framework of intergovernmental cooperation between Serbia and China, and expressed the hope that it will contribute to expanding cooperation between the two countries in energy and the economy in general.
Markovic announced that Chinese Exim Bank will approve a loan for the project in the next two to three months.
He underlined that the deadline for completion of work is 30 months from the release of loan and that realisation of the second phase of the project in Kostolac which should include the expansion of Drmno mine and construction of a new thermo unit is expected to be completed in 2014.
