State Secretary for Diaspora Miodrag Jaksic addressed those present at the delivery of the most important literary award for satire, “Radoje Domanovic”, saying that this year’s laureates created a humorous analysis of the Serbian society and used critical realism to humorously draw attention to certain anomalies in the social ambience.
Jaksic noted that this literary award is the highest recognition for satire presented by the Literary Association of Serbia and the “Radoje Domanovic” Fund.
The Strategy for the preservation and strengthening of Serbia’s ties with its diaspora will pay special attention to the preservation of the Cyrillic alphabet and Serbian language, the Serbian cultural heritage and identity, he noted.
The 2010 award was presented to poet Petar Pajic for his overall contribution to the Serbian satire.
Satirists Bojan Ljubenovic and Radislav Rasa Papes received awards for the best books of satire in the Serbian speaking area.
For a contribution to satire in the various media (theatre, film, arts and music) the award was presented to actor Velimir Bata Zivojinovic.
The Excellency of Satire awards for the best foreign satirists was presented to Bojan Bogdanovic (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Ganco Savov (Bulgaria) and Valeriu Butulescu (Romania).
