Serbia to respond to European Commission’s Questionnaire by end-January

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic said today that the competent state authorities will answer the questions from the European Commission’s Questionnaire, which EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule delivered today to Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, by the end of January next year.

Djelic told Tanjug news agency that he expects that by the end of the current government’s mandate Serbia will start negotiations for EU accession, and this mobilisation will be the same for its goal of getting EU candidate status as it was for entering the white Schengen list.
The questionnaire is status-neutral when it comes to Kosovo-Metohija and our country will be on good track to achieve candidate status by end of next year, declared the Deputy Prime Minister.
Objections to the reform process made by the European Commission relate to judicial reform and the need to resolve the issue of MPs’ mandates through election laws, specified Djelic and added that the state should focus on structural reforms and to continue with the fight against organised crime and corruption.
