Serbia ready for EU questionnaire

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said in Brussels today that Serbia is a leader in the region regarding the implementation of European standards in interior affairs.
Prior to a two-day ministerial forum of the EU and the Western Balkans on justice and interior affairs in Brussels, Dacic pointed out that the European Commission’s annual report on Serbia's progress praised our fight against organised crime and the measures that our country has taken in this field.
Serbia is well-prepared for the questions in the questionnaire on meeting the requirements for membership in the EU, that European Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fule will hand over tomorrow to Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, stated the Minister.
He reiterated that to address the problem of false asylum seekers requires the cooperation of EU and Balkan countries.
He also noted that Serbia has taken several concrete measures to reduce their number, the majority of whom are residing in Sweden, Germany and Belgium.
We are ready for the readmission and return of false asylum seekers to Serbia, mostly the Roma and Albanians in southern Serbia, assured Dacic and stressed that Serbia will improve control on its borders, adding that it is necessary that EU countries do the same.
Good cooperation between the interior ministries in the region should be an example to other departments and governments of the region, Dacic underlined concluding that the Serbian Interior Minister played a pioneering role in regional networking.
