Serbia's interest that EULEX mission be more successful

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said today in a meeting with a delegation of EULEX that it is the interest of Serbia for the EU mission to be as successful as possible and to help maintain peace and stability in Kosovo-Metohija.

In a meeting with a EULEX delegation, headed by mission head General Xavier Bout de Marnhac, Dacic stressed that crime is present throughout the province, not just in the north.
He however positively assessed the activities aimed at combating crime.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and head of the EULEX Mission concluded that there is cooperation, which in future will improve, especially when it comes to policing tasks.
The two officials stressed the need for faster and more efficient exchange of operational information in order to fight crime and raise the level of public safety on both sides of the administrative line.
The head of the EULEX Mission stated that in the forthcoming period EULEX intends to be present in northern Kosovo-Metohija.
This is the first official visit to Belgrade of the newly appointed Chief of the EULEX Mission General Xavier Bout de Marnhac during which he will meet with representatives of the Serbian ministries, especially with the Interior Ministry, which is the only institution in Serbia with which EULEX has signed a deal.
