Dacic said after the visit to the injured police officer in the Emergency Centre in Belgrade that this case shows how difficult the job of police officers is.
He stated that policeman Zastavnikovic was wounded by a person who ten years ago also fired shots at police and pointed out that people who repeatedly commit criminal acts must be punished accordingly.
The police must have their status in society, the Minister emphasised noting that mutual trust between police and citizens should involve greater respect for police.
The Interior Minister confirmed that three police officers who intervened to prevent looting were in their private vehicle and announced that these officers will get a police car.
I am proud of these three members of the police who showed that they have the heart to perform their duties and to intervene risking their lives, declared the Minister and added that an increase in wages and improvement in working conditions for police officers are necessary.
Chairman of the Executive Board of Banca Intesa Draginja Djuric announced that each of the police officers will be rewarded with RSD 100,000.
She added that the robbers tried to take €24,000 and about RSD 1 million.
Director of Emergency Centre Vladimir Djukic disclosed that Zastavnikovic has a bullet wound to his face and added that the patient will soon be transferred from the intensive care unit to the inpatient treatment area.
