Good cooperation between Serbian, Slovak police

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Slovak Minister of the Interior Daniel Lipsic signed a protocol on the implementation of readmission in Belgrade today, adding that cooperation between their police forces is good.

Following the signing, Dacic stressed that Serbia has an obligation to sign protocols on readmission implementation with EU members because of a framework agreement on readmission with the EU.

He said he is pleased at the degree, level and quality of cooperation between the two interior ministries, voicing his belief that it will be even firmer in the years to come.

Dacic thanked his Slovak counterpart for his country’s principled stance regarding Kosovo-Metohija and support to Serbia’s EU integration process.

He underlined that Serbia will benefit from Slovakia’s experience in EU accession, especially in the judiciary and police, adding that these sectors are important for the questionnaire Belgrade is to receive next week.

As for our relations with the Slovak minority, I can freely say that there are almost no issues there and that we have established harmonious inter-ethnic relations, Dacic reinforced.

Serbia and Slovakia are trying to synchronise an agreement on cooperation between our criminal police academies and road police, he added.

Dacic and Lipsic outlined that the Serbian and Slovak police are cooperating in the case of the organised criminal group of Darko Saric, who is accused of smuggling cocaine from South America.

Lipsic observed that organised crime and corruption are the main issues for the EU and countries aspiring to become its members, adding that cooperation with Serbia in this sector is very good.

Serbia took a number of concrete steps in the fight against organised crime and law implementation, the Slovak Minister of the Interior noted.

He declared that at the meeting, the two delegations also discussed cooperation in case of natural disasters and offered Slovakia’s assistance to Kraljevo.

Lipsic voiced his gratitude for Serbia’s good relations with the Slovak national minority in Serbia, adding that this is a good example for other countries in the region.
