At a press conference about the completion of the competition, Kalanovic outlined that the RSD 30 billion budget which the Ministry demanded for next year will hardly suffice for one third of the submitted projects.
She explained that 20% of the total funds for these projects have been secured by municipalities, while RSD 92 billion will be provided by the state.
The majority of submitted projects concern road construction, which serves to highlight that road infrastructure is still a weak spot in our country, Kalanovic noted, adding that this is an opportunity for Serbia’s development.
The Minister specified that RSD 12.3 billion has been asked for the construction of water and sewage networks, adding that projects to construct hospitals, schools, kindergartens and institutions of culture were also proposed.
Kalanovic observed that 12 municipalities have not proposed any projects, adding that the largest cities and towns – Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and Kragujevac – have asked for the largest amount of funds.
Fewer projects have been submitted for 2011 than for 2010, Kalanovic revealed, adding that these are only the projects which will resolve crucial problems in local communities.
Early in February it will be announced which of the proposed projects will be granted funds, the Minister concluded.
