Police meet all challenges in clearing up earthquake aftermath

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic visited the Ribnica culture centre and Cetvrti Kraljevacki Bataljon primary school in Kraljevo, which suffered heavy damage in the earthquake and are being repaired with the help of the Sector for Emergency Situations.

Dacic observed that the police and the Gendarmerie have successfully met all the challenges which came up during the clearing up of the consequences of the earthquake.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the task of renovating damaged facilities in Kraljevo is an important test for Serbia, adding that it is necessary to secure conditions so that the residents of Kraljevo can go on living as before.
He specified that over 1,600 police officers are now helping Kraljevo residents and that even police officers from Novi Pazar, Uzice, Sabac, Valjevo and Leskovac have volunteered to help.
Dacic commended the Gendarmerie unit which also came to Kraljevo’s aid, as well as students of the Criminal Police Academy in Belgrade who also volunteered.
He itemised that 558 facilities of police officers living in Kraljevo have been damaged, noting that RSD 51 million is required for their renovation.
RSD 30 million has already been earmarked for these purposes and these funds will be paid out as of tomorrow, Dacic explained, adding that all employees in his Ministry will set aside one daily wage to help their Kraljevo colleagues.
Dacic met with Kraljevo Mayor Ljubisa Simovic and municipal leadership who acquainted him with the current state of affairs in the Kraljevo region.
