Dacic congratulates on abolishment of visas for citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic congratulated Minister of Security of Bosnia-Herzegovina Sadik Ahmetovic and Albanian Minister of the Interior Lulzim Basha today on the abolishment of tourist visas for citizens of their countries.
Dacic pointed out that there is good regional cooperation in the fight against crime and corruption, which is why Serbia supported this decision.
I welcome the decision of the European Commission as it would be an additional impetus for cooperation and the progressive integration of the region into the EU, the minister said.
This decision shows that Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania have made a huge effort in the last year and a half to meet the conditions of the roadmap and confirms that the region’s rightful place is in the EU.
This is a message to citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania that Europe understands our need to live, work and travel like other Europeans, Dacic underlined.
The citizens deserved this message long time ago. It is the result of changes in the region, its modernisation and approximation to European standards which we started in 2000, the First Deputy Prime Minister concluded.
The EU has decided today to abolish visas to citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania. The decision will be published in the Official Journal of the EU on 14 December and the citizens of the two countries will be able to travel freely as of 15 December.
The decision was made unanimously at a meeting of interior ministers of the 27 EU member states.
