Speaking at a conference of the Association of Serbian Businesswomen, dedicated to economic cooperation between Serbian and German women entrepreneurs, Dinkic remarked that there are 51,000 companies in Serbia owned by women, which is 17% of the total number of companies in the country.
The number of female executives has doubled in relation to previous years, he outlined, adding that there is an upward trend when it comes to women occupying leading positions in companies.
Around four-fifths of these women are from towns other than Belgrade, Dinkic observed, adding that women are engaged in finance, accountancy and information technology, that is, the services sector.
He voiced his pleasure at the fact that women entrepreneurs from Germany will be partners to their Serbian counterparts, especially bearing in mind that Germany is one of Serbia’s key foreign partners.
Dinkic also illustrated that three out of five state secretaries in his Ministry are women.
Minister for Telecommunications and Information Society Jasna Matic stated that the beginning of cooperation with German women entrepreneurs will link Serbia with the EU and bring it closer to its standards.

She asserted that women are more successful in the services sector, currently a prevalent sector in the global economy, but noted that they also excel in the information and communications technology sector thanks to their approach to clients.
This project will help women advance their businesses, be competitive and find a place for themselves in the EU market, she added.
Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert commended Serbia’s efforts regarding the inclusion of women in all sectors of the society, adding that when it comes to women’s participation in politics, Serbia is no exception in Europe, bearing in mind that 18% of employees in the government are women, with this figure being 21% in parliament.
Today’s conference marks the beginning of a joint project “Women Entrepreneurs to Other Women Entrepreneurs”, which will open new possibilities for the development of female entrepreneurship.
The goal of the conference is to promote the creation of a thriving network of Serbian and German companies run by women.
During the course of the project a web portal will be opened in February 2011 to enable female entrepreneurs from these two countries to establish business contacts.
