Dacic, who was present during the taking of a water sample from the Danube at the control point of the Serbian Hydrometeorological Institute in Zemun, underlined that the competent police services are ready to take action in any circumstances.
The crest of the wave that arrived from Hungary via the Danube is near Novi Sad at the moment and the water results from there say that contamination is lower than in the case of some local contaminations in Serbia, confirmed Dacic .
He specified that more than 50,000 people are supplied with water from the Danube via water processing factories and highlighted that the Sector for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of the Interior will take all preventive measures.
The Minister affirmed that possibilities for resolving problems in the adoption of the Special Collective Agreement for employees of the Ministry of the Interior will be discussed at tomorrow’s meeting with representatives of the ministries of finance, labour and social policy, and of public administration and local self-government.
He explained that the objective of adopting the Special Collective Agreement is not to raise salaries, but to equalise rights regarding work at night, extra hours and work on holidays.
Dacic also pointed out that it is necessary to improve the equipping of the police in a systemic way and recalled that in 2002, 56% of the police budget was used for salaries and the rest for equipment, while today 81% of the budget is used for salaries.
Assistant Director of the Serbian Hydrometeorological Institute Branislav Gavric declared that measurements in Novi Sad show that the level of contamination of the Danube is of the second category, which is the usual water quality in this river.
