Construction of gas pipeline in Raca starts

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic marked the start of construction of a pipeline in the municipality of Raca today, worth about €7 million.
Dacic pointed out that the construction of the pipeline will be completed by 2013 and will be implemented in three phases.
During the first phase, South Korea's Yura, which employs 1,300 workers, will get gas sometime next month, he said.
Upon completion of the second phase, the whole of Raca will be gasified, Dacic noted.
He also stressed that without the development of infrastructure and balanced economic development of all parts of the country, there is no future for Serbia.
Dacic received an award on behalf of the government for his outstanding contribution to the development of the municipality of Raca.
In a session organised on the occasion of Municipality Day, he underlined that the preconditions for any free and democratic society, apart from a commitment to the rule of law, human rights and democratic institutions, include also a commitment to social justice and balanced economic development all over Serbia.
Dacic announced that all 5,600 police officers, who yesterday were on their work assignments in the streets of Belgrade, will get a 20% raise in their October salaries.
He recalled that more than 250 people were arrested for yesterday's riots in the streets of Belgrade, including more than 50 minors, and that a number of them are in police custody.
Yesterday's event showed that the police have high morale and professional training, but that it also must invest in new equipment, outlined Dacic, adding that all police officers must be entitled to compensation for night work and work on holidays, which is not the case at present.
