At a meeting with a delegation of the UN Headquarters, led by Director of the Department for Europe and Latin America Farid Zarif, Dacic said that activities that are part of the legal framework for participation of Serbian police members in EU missions are underway.
Zarif expressed satisfaction with the engagement of Serbian police members in the UN peacekeeping missions to date and welcomed Serbia’s readiness to increase its participation.
At the meeting they looked at the UN engagement in the province so far and welcomed UNMIK’s status-neutral role.
It was underlined that the UN wishes to facilitate better understanding between Belgrade and Pristina and monitor the EU’s activities in Kosovo-Metohija, with a note that the UN presence will still be relevant.
It was also affirmed that the UN endorses the dialogue aimed at establishing peace and stability, which is especially important bearing in mind that Serbs in the province have confidence in the UN.
