Speaking at the third session of the Vojvodina Parliamentary Committee for Security, Dacic underlined that the number of incidents motivated by these differences was reduced by 25% in the first eight months of 2010, compared to the same period last year.
He explained that this is a continuation of last year’s positive tendency in relation to 2008.
Cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior and Vojvodina provincial organs in the preservation of peace and security in the province has been very good and was carried out through several campaigns, including a Police Officer in Local Community campaign, he observed.
This occupation should be made more attractive in order to have more national minority members applying for jobs in the police, Dacic reiterated, calling upon members of different nationalities to enrol in police schools.
He announced that the anti-hail protection sector will soon be under the jurisdiction of his Ministry, noting that even with the increased number in the Ministry’s duties, the number of criminal acts is decreasing and the percentage of solved cases is on the rise.
Of the total number of committed crimes, as much as 60% are solved, which is by far more than in previous years, he concluded.
