Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina step up fight against crime

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Bosnia-Herzegovina Minister of Security Sadik Ahmetovic signed an agreement on police cooperation between the two countries, enabling a more efficient fight against all forms of crime.

Dacic underlined that this agreement will establish a better framework for cooperation in the fight against all forms of crime, terrorism, corruption and border issues.
When it comes to cooperation of the border police units of Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, he said that it is necessary to keep the border well-guarded and confirmed that the regime of passing the border with IDs only will remain in force for citizens of the two countries.
The First Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that Serbia advocates the abolishment of tourist visas for EU countries to citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina and that this country and Albania get visa liberalisation as soon as possible.
Ahmetovic pointed out that criminals and the mafia in the territory of the Balkans cooperate and that they are well-organised, which is why the relevant authorities of the countries of the region should also cooperate so that they could be a step ahead of the criminals.
This agreement strengthens their cooperation when it comes to dealing with possible threats to public security and order, as well as preventing and solving acts of organised crime, terrorism and corruption in both states.
It also refers to cooperation aimed at boosting security and protecting state borders in border regions, as well as at joint activities in education and professional training of staff and data protection.
The document will facilitate and improve cooperation between police agencies from Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina to help fight cross-border crime.
Today at Nikola Tesla Airport, Dacic and Ahmetovic also signed an agreement regarding the delivery of two helicopters which remained in Serbia after the break-up of Yugoslavia and which it will now return to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
One helicopter will be returned to the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the other to the Bosnia-Herzegovina police.
