Djelic congratulates young mathematicians on winning Olympic medals

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic congratulated the students from the Mathematical High School on excellent results achieved at the 4th International Olympiad in astronomy and astrophysics.
Djelic congratulated the students, their families and teachers on the great success and said that these results show that Serbia is a nation of talent, and if they are given appropriate attention, bright future is ahead of them.
The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that the Ministry recently invested €1 million in equipment for physics laboratory in the Mathematics High School.
This is only the beginning because we must show that knowledge, science and technology are the future of this country, Djelic noted.
These achievements give us the right to believe that Serbia will be among the leaders when it comes to science, said Djelic.
Serbia won one gold medal, two silver medals, one bronze medal and a certificate of merit at the Olympics held in China from 12 to 21 September.
The Serbian winners are Aleksandar Vasiljkovic (gold medal; seventh Olympic medal), Filip Zivanovic and Ognjen Markovic (silver), while the bronze medal went to Stefan Andjelkovic and the certificate of merit to Milena Milosevic.
Team leaders were Sonja Vidojevic and Dr Slobodan Ninkovic.
