Serbia, Germany to upgrade cooperation in fight against international crime

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Head of the German Federal Police Matthias Seeger announced today that Serbia and Germany will soon sign an agreement on police cooperation.

After the meeting at the Palace of Serbia, Dacic and Seeger said at a joint press conference that this document will enable even better cooperation between police units of Serbia and Germany in the fight against all forms of crime.
They expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the police of the two countries to date and concluded that the fight against international crime can be successful only if carried out jointly.
Dacic announced the signing of a joint statement on cooperation in the field of aircraft flying safety between the two states.
Seeger explained that this will allow armed escorts to accompany aircraft during flights between Serbia and Germany.
The police of the two countries have had several successful joint actions in fighting crime, recalled Dacic and thanked Germany for their support in obtaining visa liberalisation for Serbia.
This decision was not only political, given that the Ministries of the Interior and Justice had to meet a number of preconditions.
Seeger highlighted that the new agreements on police cooperation between Germany and Serbia will enable rapid exchange of information and provide a great contribution to the preservation of security in the two states.
He also noted that four Serbian police officers from the Border Police Department are attending training at Frankfurt airport, while one is attending a prestigious academy in Germany.
