Police cooperation between Serbia, Croatia via audio-video link

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Croatian Interior Minister Tomislav Karamarko talked today via protected audio-video link between Belgrade-Zagreb through which the two countries’ police will communicate in the future.

Dacic explained that the establishment of this link represents the beginning of the project established by a regional centre for the exchange of operational information and cooperation in the fight against organised crime.
The First Deputy Prime Minister explained that three video links will be set up, namely between the interior ministers, between police directors and between the criminal police authorities of the two countries.
He pointed to a high level of cooperation between the Croatian and Serbian police, and noted that the establishment of crypto-protected connections will facilitate communication between the policeforces and exchange of information.
Dacic said that the next phase of the project foresees the realisation of the aforementioned exchange of information, monitoring of criminal groups and the creation of legal prerequisites for the issuance of a common arrest warrant.
Karamarko stressed that organised crime is a real and actual threat and expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of the cooperation between the police of Serbia and Croatia.
Relations between the two states may be changed, but for the fight against organised crime, which knows no boundaries, cooperation of police authorities must be at a high level, concluded the Croatian Minister.
Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic highlighted that the establishment of an audio-video link is of historical importance for the work of the two policeforces, and expressed the hope that other countries in the region will follow this example.
Organised crime knows no borders, but certainly there are ways to confront it, maintained Veljovic.
