Serbia, Republika Srpska to further develop cooperation

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic stated in Banjaluka today that Serbia and Republika Srpska must continue to further develop their to date good cooperation in all sectors.

After holding a meeting with a delegation of Republika Srpska, which was headed by Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, Dacic said that it is in Serbia’s vital interest to cooperate with Republika Srpska, recalling that cooperation is being developed under the agreement on special parallel relations.

Dacic pointed out that it is particularly important to establish successful economic cooperation between Serbia and Republika Srpska.

The governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska agree regarding several important political issues in the region. Serbia advocates the preservation of Republika Srpska as an entity within Bosnia-Herzegovina, as defined in the Dayton Agreement, underlined Dacic.

Alterations to the Dayton Agreement are possible only with the consent of all three peoples and two entities in question, he highlighted.

Speaking about Kosovo-Metohija, Dacic stressed that the issue of the southern Serbian province can be resolved only through dialogue and compromise, in the interest of both Serbs and Albanians.

The Serbian Interior Ministry and Republika Srpska are cooperating well in the fight against organised crime, he remarked, adding that several successful joint actions have been carried out.

Deputy Prime Minister Krkobabic confirmed that a reciprocal pension agreement has been signed between Serbia and Republika Srpska and that other questions must also be settled along these lines.

Prime Minister Milorad Dodik maintained that today’s meeting with Serbian government representatives was an affirmation of successful cooperation between the two countries in all sectors.

Economic, social and political cooperation was also discussed at the meeting. Serbian government representatives were also informed about the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Republika Srpska, Dodik underlined.

The resolution on Kosovo-Metohija put before the UN General Assembly by Serbia was discussed as well, he noted.

Dodik expressed his firm belief that where Bosnia-Herzegovina is concerned, the development of the situation regarding Kosovo-Metohija will be based on the fact that Bosnia-Herzegovina has not recognised the unilaterally declared independence of the southern Serbian province and that their representatives in joint government bodies will not do so.

Republika Srpska Interior Minister Stanislav Cadjo observed that cooperation between the two ministries is successful and will be further improved in the future.
