Serbia advocates peaceful, compromise solution to Kosovo-Metohija issue

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic stated today that Serbia is ready to reach an agreement and a compromise regarding the Resolution on Kosovo-Metohija because this is the only way to resolve the problem.
Speaking at the promotion ceremony for the 3rd class of trainees at the basic police training centre in Sremska Kamenica, Dacic said that Serbia cannot accept and recognise the unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo as this would finalise and give legitimacy to the secession by its southern province.
Serbia does not wish to create any kind of problem in the region. It wants to be part of the solution, through peaceful means and continued dialogue, which will lead to a compromise that would be in the interest of all people living in Kosovo-Metohija, he concluded.
