Agreement on scientific, technological cooperation major step in improving relations between Serbia, US

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic met today with a delegation of the US Congress led by Congressman William Delahunt from Massachusetts.

Djelic presented the current economic situation in our country as well as achievements and progress in the field of European integration to the Congressmen.
An important step in improving relations between Serbia and the United States was made in April this year when a bilateral agreement on scientific and technological cooperation was signed, Djelic said.
The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that under the agreement concrete steps have been already made, and announced a large-scale Serbian-American scientific conference for next year.
Djelic sought support from the Congressmen that 10 July, the birthdate of Nikola Tesla, is declared the international day of sciences by the UN.
The Congressmen also expressed interest in the protection of Serbian cultural heritage in Kosovo-Metohija.
This is the third US delegation visiting Serbia since last year's visit by US Vice President Joseph Biden.
The US delegation also comprised Dan Burton, Jeff Flake, Michael Turner and Steve Cohen.
