Government decides to continue with payments of "Kosovo supplement"

Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic confirmed that the government unanimously passed a Conclusion allowing further payments of the "Kosovo supplement" for Serbs living in Kosovo-Metohija.

Bogdanovic said at a news conference that the benefits will be given in the same amount as before.
He confirmed that the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija is working on a draft law on support to Serbian people and members of minority communities in the territory of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija.
Bogdanovic expressed confidence that the document will be in parliament by September.
The incomes of Kosovo Serbs who receive money from the budget will continue to be increased by 50%, stated the Minister, adding that the document refers only to persons or families whose members live and work in Kosovo-Metohija.
The government has ensured that the decision is in line with the Serbian Constitution and the law and the legal basis for its enactment are the Law on State Administration and the Law on Ministries, outlined the Minister.
When asked to comment on the decision of the Kosovo government to set aside €5 million for infrastructure in the north of the province, Bogdanovic answered that the money is not welcome because the Serbian government is investing a lot in the north of Kosovo-Metohija, which is why there is no need for the Kosovo government to do this.
The Serbian government is investing significant resources in the north of Kosovo-Metohija. Schools, health facilities and infrastructure in this part of the province are in relatively good condition, he maintained noting that Serbia will continue to invest there.
It is obvious that the Kosovo government wants to somehow buy loyalty or commitment from citizens, bearing in mind that in March next year there will be local elections in Severna Mitrovica.
Bogdanovic reiterated that the Serbian province's status issue is not solved and that there is a need to renew dialogue to resolve all disputed issues.
It is not possible to achieve a peaceful solution in Kosovo-Metohija, nor in the entire Western Balkan region, if one side receives all, while the other loses everything, the Minister warned.
Therefore, it is necessary to continue negotiations, which is a position that Serbia will present at the UN, he concluded.
