Festival of auteur film opens

Belgrade, 18 November 2004

The international auteur film festival “View to the World” will take place in Belgrade from November 19 to 25 featuring 19 films entered for competition. The festival opens with the French film “Exils” by Tony Gatlif, the winner of the Grand Prix for best director at this year’s Cannes festival.

Artistic Director of the festival Borislav Andjelic elected the films for the main programme, including the Iranian film “Turtles Can Fly” by Bahman Ghobadi, the winner of the San Sebastian 2004 Silver Shell, “Notre Musique” by Jean-Luc Godard, and “The Rubber Soul Project” authored by Dunko Tucakovic.

Croatia will present “Svjetsko Cudoviste” by Goran Rusinovic and “Ta Divna Splitska Noc” by Arsen Ostojic while the Macedonian representative will be “Kako sam Ubio Sveca” by Teona Mitevska.

The festival will also feature the domestic film “San Zimske Noci” by Goran Paskaljevic. The film was awarded the jury’s grand prix last year in San Sebastian.

The follow-up programme will take place in the Film Archives Museum, Art Cinema, and Student Cultural Centre.

The festival is organised in cooperation with the Serbian Ministry of Culture, Belgrade Secretariat for Culture, foreign cultural centres and embassies of France, Finland, Italy, India and Iran.
