The statement adds that Serbia submitted the text of the statement to the UNESCO Committee, underlining in it the exceptional universal value of Serbian medieval monasteries in Kosovo-Metohija, because of which they were included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List and World Heritage in Danger in the first place.
The UNESCO Committee affirmed this document, citing a footnote in which it reiterates the respect of UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
At the session, the Committee also made a decision on defining borders of objects of culture which were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List before 2000, including Stari Ras with the Sopocani monastery and the monastery of Studenica.
The Committee held its session in Brasilia from 25 July until 3 August. Serbia’s delegation was headed by Minister of Culture Nebojsa Bradic, the statement adds.
