Dacic opens 4th camp of tolerance for young people from Danube basin cities, regions

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic opened the 4th camp of tolerance for young people from Danube basin cities and regions late yesterday, called “Catch the Rhythm of the Danube”.

For this occasion, Dacic voiced his hope that all Danube basin countries will become EU members one day and that tolerance will be a way of life. He underlined that tolerance is necessary for a society to function and added that the Serbian police would have much less work if there was more tolerance in Serbian society. Minister of Human and Minority Rights Svetozar Ciplic also addressed the guests and participants in the camp in which around 200 young people from all Danube basin cities and regions, as well as from Istria, Lower Styria and Republika Srpska, will stay until 31 July.

All the differences that exist and we are proud of, are not differences that separate us, but rather our treasure, Ciplic stated and added that there can be no democracy without tolerance and that it is very important that young people be taught to be tolerant. During this six-day programme, young people will take part in creative workshops and entertainment and sport programmes. Apart from learning tolerance as a way of living, special attention will be paid to the Danube strategy and the students’ vision of the future of the Danube basin areas.
