First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said in Munich that the validity of old Serbian passports and IDs will be extended for Serbian citizens living abroad.
After yesterday’s meeting with
Bavarian Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann, Dacic told the Frankfurt press that this will certainly be done
because the number of new passports issued is not so important to Serbia for the question of visa liberalisation.
The validity of the old passports will be extended only for Serbian citizens living abroad because not all of them can get new passports at embassies and consulates, the Minister explained.
He highlighted that it is a big success for Serbia to have issued almost 2.5 million new passports in two years.
It is being considered to extend the validity not only by one year, but maybe for a longer period. This is why I call on Serbian citizens from diaspora not to wait at embassies and consulates, but to take out new passports in Serbia, Dacic concluded.
