Cooperation with Serbian police very important for Germany

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic met today in Munich with Bavarian Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann.
Dacic pointed out that the Serbian Ministry of the Interior has very good cooperation with the German Ministry of the Interior and federal police, as well as with the police of the state of Bavaria.
He confirmed that an interstate agreement on police cooperation between Germany and Serbia will soon be signed, which will give a legal basis for the further development of cooperation with the German Ministry of the Interior and the Bavarian police.
I want to thank Germany on the support it has given to Serbia in the reform and development of the Ministry of the Interior, and especially in the process of visa liberalisation, Dacic said.
He underlined that Germany is one of Serbia’s key partners in the field of law enforcement. The recent cooperation has resulted in a series of concrete projects which have increased the level of professionalism of the Serbian police.
Dacic highlighted that the 40th anniversary of the formation of a joint commission between Serbia and Bavaria is being observed this year and this is a good moment to intensify cooperation in all fields, especially in law enforcement, the fight against crime, drug and human trafficking, money forging, illegal migration, false asylum-seekers and similar matters. In the upcoming period we will boost cooperation in fighting violence, especially at sporting events and in traffic safety, the Minister announced.
Addressing the press after the meeting, Dacic recalled that the Serbian government made the decision, at the proposal of the Ministry of the Interior, to allow all citizens of the EU to enter Serbia with ID only, without a passport.
Herrmann reinforced that Serbia has a crucial role in the Balkans, which is why cooperation with the Serbian police is very important, especially in preventing crimes such as drug trafficking and money forging.
