Projects from Serbia included in Danube strategy

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic said in Brussels that the European Commission has included the Serbian project of restoring the Danube-Tisa-Danube canal system, a wastewater processing project in Belgrade and a project aimed at recovering tourist potential on the Danube.
Djelic, who was on a visit to Brussels today, confirmed after meeting with European Commission representatives that the funds from the EU for these projects will be available by 2013.
He highlighted that some of these projects are worth up to €500 million.
The Deputy Prime Minister illustrated the fact that Serbia will be able to draw several billion euros in the next EU budget period (2014-2020) for projects in the country related to the Danube is essentially important.
He affirmed that the Serbian delegation presented a project for building a multimodal centre on the Danube to the representatives of Danubian countries and the European Commission today, which would be the biggest river port between Constanta and Vienna.
This centre would be a rail, road and air transport hub and should be built between Smederevo, Belgrade and Novi Sad, he stated.
Djelic outlined that the Serbian delegation secured that Radio Television Vojvodina becomes a media partner of the whole strategy.
