Serbia has potential in creative industry

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic said today that Serbia has great potential in the creative industry, which entails design and application of art and its connection with technology.

Opening the TEDx Belgrade conference, based on the model of the famous TED conferences, Djelic outlined that this event will create conditions for talented and creative people to gather more often and exchange ideas.
TED is short for technology, entertainment and design, he explained and added that this organisation was founded in 1984. Over 700 lectures are held every year.
He announced that a campus of Serbian technical faculties will be built in New Belgrade, in block 39, next to the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, where the TED organisation will have its office.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the need for creating possibilities for young Serbian scientists to become independent, because nowadays they have to work for years on the projects of their superiors so that they might be awarded with the title of full professor later on.
He declared that this must be changed and this is why the relevant ministry has launched projects and announced competitions for young scientists in order to encourage them to become independent and create teams where they will implement their own ideas.
