One-off aid package for pensioners in September

Deputy Prime Minister Jovan Krkobabic stated that a one-off aid package which will be distributed to pensioners in September will not be below RSD 5,000 for each beneficiary.

In a statement for today’s edition of the Vecernje Novosti daily, Krkobabic underlined that funds for the pensioners’ bonus have been prepared, announcing that the decision on their allocation will be adopted at one of the upcoming government sessions.
Krkobabic explained that the assistance will be distributed through the Pension and Disability Fund (PIO), noting that the number of beneficiaries will be determined later since it depends on the amount of funds that will be secured.
The Deputy Prime Minister declared that around 40,000 retired farmers will also receive assistance, adding that the aid package will be distributed in September in order to help pensioners buy food to prepare preserves for the winter, as well as to buy coal, wood and other necessities.
He stressed that the PIO Fund will prepare detailed documentation on the number of pensioners and the amount of their pension in order to make sure that the aid package goes to those who actually need it.
If additional funds for this purpose are secured, the neediest pensioners may even receive somewhat more than RSD 5,000, Krkobabic concluded.
