Rompuy’s visit to Serbia a positive signal

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic said today that the visit of President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy to Serbia is a positive signal.
Djelic told the daily Blic that the fact that Rompuy chose the Balkans for his first visit in the capacity of the Chairman of the Union is very indicative.
This by itself is a signal that, despite real difficulties, the process of enlargement is on course to continue. The onus is on us to point out any possible damage to and consequences of the process slowing down, observed Djelic.
As part of his mini-Balkan tour, Rompuy will visit Ljubljana, Zagreb and Belgrade today, to convey a message that the European integration of the Western Balkans remains to be of crucial importance for the EU.
