Malta ratifies SAA with Serbia

Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said today after meeting with Maltese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tonio Borg that Malta has ratified the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with Serbia.
Jeremic stated at a joint press conference with Borg that Malta, after Spain, is another EU country that has ratified the SAA with Serbia.
He expressed appreciation to the Maltese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs on Malta’s support to Serbia’s European integration.
The Minister stressed that today's act of violence in Kosovska Mitrovica, where doctor Mesud Dzekovic died and 11 people were wounded, is an attempt at provocation and destabilisation in the region at a time when the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is expected to present its opinion and when the future status of Kosovo-Metohija should be resolved.
Jeremic expressed his concern over the evident attempt at unilateral moves in the northern part of the province.
Serbia will do all it can to calm down the tensions in Kosovska Mitrovica, he noted, adding that official organs are gathering information on these events.
Borg affirmed that he presented Minister Jeremic with a copy of the Instrument on Ratification yesterday, which shows Malta’s determination to endorse Serbia’s EU integration.
He highlighted that his visit to Serbia is historic since he is the first Maltese foreign minister to visit Serbia, adding that Serbia can count on Malta’s support on its path to the EU.
