Djelic opens Partners Forum in Uzice

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic opened the Forum of Partners for carrying out the action plan for the implementation of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development, today in Uzice.

Djelic stated at the occasion that the Forum will facilitate the exchange of experience, present examples of good practice and examine hindrances that can hamper the implementation of the Strategy.

The Deputy Prime Minister presented the latest information regarding the use of IPA funds at the Forum. Ways in which the business sector could contribute to sustainable development were examined at the meeting.

Major investment will be made in the region, including investment in a gas supply system and in projects such as the Uzice – Visegrad motorway and Ponikve Airport, which will encourage tourism, announced the Minister.

Djelic also visited the Teachers College in Uzice where he presented a programme by the Ministry of Science for financing projects in education and pledged support for completing the construction of a new amphitheatre.

The Deputy Prime Minister awarded telescopes to two primary school students with the best results at state level academic competitions. Summer holidays in Greece were awarded to the two best secondary school students.

Djelic also visited the Buducnost garments factory in Uzice, which employs 40 workers with disabilities. He announced that the factory will receive support so that it can become a regional centre for providing education to persons with disabilities.
